Update: Flickr has changed the downloading of original photos. You probably won't be able to download original photos. Other sizes seem ok.
There are many tools for uploading your photos to flickr, but I have not found a good, easy way to automatically download
photos from flickr. Maybe your hard drive went bad and you need to get back your original photos, or you want to download
some photos for your screensaver.
The flickr downloader works like the flickr large slideshow, but
instead of displaying the photos the downloader will save them to your computer.
There are three options for selecting which photos to downloaded. One, you can download photos by a user and/or tags.
Two, you can download all a user's favorites. And three, you can download all photos in a photo set.
After you click "download now" you will be taken to a page with a Java Applet that will do the downloading. You must
let the Applet run enough though it's unsigned. As long as you have a browser that supports Java then you should be
able to use the downloader (Linux, Windows, Max OS).
Please note that whatever size you select must exist for the photo. If a photo is small to begin with it will not
have a large size, and you'll get a generic "not available" image for that photo. Also, to be polite to the flickr
servers the downloader will only download at most one photo every five seconds.
If you like the downloader you can tell your flickr friends about it.
Finally, please note this is merely a tool with no brains. Please make sure you're downloading photos you have permission to download.
